GIVING THE NON-SPEAKING A VOICE

We provide opportunities for students of all ages to enjoy the gift of communication

It wasn't until my autistic son was 25 years old that I learned how to teach him to communicate using a letter board and then independent typing; and I learned that all the motor impairments I had recognized in my son all these years had prevented him -- his entire life -- from showing me that he has both normal language and exceptional intelligence.  Two years later:  we went from me not knowing that Alex knew the alphabet to him passing the New York State High School Equivalency exam, with distinction...and being accepted to an excellent 4-year college.
Read Alex's story...

I changed everything I was doing in  my life, and opened the Mouth to Hand Learning Center, where daily, we bring the gift of expressive language, friendships and the joy of learning to the nonspeaking...and they, in turn, give us the gift that is themselves.
