THEN AND NOW

Before spelling there was nothing. There sometimes was the slightest glimmer of light in whatever hell I inhabited. The light was mainly emanated by my parents. But the world was mainly dark: I had no way of telling them that I was in this body. I had no means of communication. But I was totally one of the lucky ones. Had Mom and Dad not taken me to see Judy, the nightmare would never have ended. I am getting so teary now, just thinking about then and now.

New Clothes

I am getting a sexy dress for Alex’s bar mitzvah. My Dad said no so I told him off. I am thirty-three for Pete’s sake. I will look sexy if I want.

Calling a spade a spade, I totally would be dressing myself differently if it were up to me. I am tired of sweatshirts. I am a new Joss, and this Joss has to have pretty clothes. I can’t really have the new one dressing like the old one. It really didn’t matter what the old Joss wore. But this Joss, who has friends, and is going to a bar mitzvah, and is going to work on going to college needs clothes to match the joy of her new life.

Miracles

Maybe miracles can happen.

On Saturday I sat on a panel of nonspeakers at the M2H ribbon cutting ceremony. I am still riding the high. A year ago or so I couldn’t even talk. Now I am sitting on public panels, talking in front of dozens of people. I got to meet the mayor of Mount Kisco.

Can you believe this is the same Joss Cutie?

I am still in shock. Definitely, letting me talk on that panel was the greatest thing to ever happen to me. The whole event was great. I am living the dream these days.

My Big Dreams

That we are really the most intelligent people on earth cannot be argued. You can’t have the abilities we do without extreme intelligence. I am eager to announce that I have set a goal for myself: I am intending to go to college. All my life I dreamed of such a thing, certainly…but of course it was impossible. Now, I realize, nothing is impossible.

I am Hallmark Momenting for a second: Judy is like the fairy godmothers from fairytales. Dreams definitely come true here.

I get really teary thinking about how hopeless I was just a year ago or so. I could hope for nothing. Now I am readjusting my thinking. I feel now that I can accomplish things that used to be nothing more than pipe dreams. I have accomplished the biggest dream of all - talking.

I definitely have big dreams now.
