The Truth About the Truth

Earlier this week I couldn’t sleep. I asked Judy to tell my Mom that I need to know the truth of things even when the truths are hard. The worst thing in the world is feeling helpless. Everyone feels it sometimes, but we nonspeakers feel it all the time. I cannot even take care of myself, let alone my parents, if they need help. There are no words that describe the fear that instills in us. 

That is why I need the truth, always. If I know the truth I can at least prepare myself.  I know I cannot help, but at least I can prepare my heart. And that is critical for us because we are so easily dysregulated.

I have been thinking about new ideas recently. Control is important to us because everything is out of ours. And that is why our OCD ramps up when we are stressed. I try to stop OCDing, but cannot:  that too is out of my control. So the best thing you can do for us is to tell us the truth.
